Transfer Quality on a Garment Printing Machine
Source:ZS Machinery Time:2016-08-16 Click:979 Times
When a transfer comes out weak, patchy or offset, one of a short list of things is usually responsible.
- Temperature. Too low and the dye does not fully transfer; too high and the fabric can scorch or the colour shift.
- Pressure. Uneven pressure is the most common cause of patchy results. Check the platen and the press mechanism.
- Time. Contact time has to match the fabric and the ink load. Thick fabric needs longer.
- Paper and ink match. A paper that releases too slowly, or an ink that is overloaded, will leave a dull transfer.
- Moisture. Damp fabric or damp paper produces steam and a mottled result. Store both dry.
- Fabric type. Transfer printing needs polyester. On cotton you will get a faint, temporary image at best.
- Registration. On multi-colour work, misalignment between the print and the garment shows immediately.
Change one variable at a time and keep a record. Most transfer problems are settled by proving the settings on a small sample first.
