Technical Requirements for Roller Transfer Machines

If a roller transfer machine is going to hold colour consistent over a shift, four things have to be right.
Drum surface. The drum should be turned and polished to a fine tolerance. Any high spot appears as a mark on the printed fabric at every rotation. This is the single most important quality factor in the machine.
Temperature evenness. Oil-heated drums hold temperature more evenly across the working width than electrically heated drums. Ask for the temperature variation figure across the width, not just the set point.
Pressure control. Pressure must be adjustable and even. The blanket tensioning system matters as much as the pressure cylinder.
Drive stability. Speed has to stay constant. A drive that surges changes the dwell time and therefore the colour.
When you specify a machine, ask for these four numbers in writing. They are what you will live with every day.
