How Colour Is Controlled on a Transfer Machine
Source:ZS Machinery Time:2016-08-16 Click:882 Times
Colour on a sublimation transfer machine is decided by three things working together: temperature, pressure and time.
Temperature controls how much dye moves from the paper into the fabric. Too low and the print looks weak; too high and the fabric can yellow or the dye can migrate.
Pressure controls contact between paper, fabric and drum. Even pressure gives even colour. A high spot on the drum or a slack blanket shows up immediately as a light or dark band.
Time is set by drum diameter and running speed. A larger drum or slower speed gives the dye longer to transfer, which means deeper colour at the same temperature.
The drum surface matters too. Our drums are turned and polished to a fine tolerance so there is no variation across the width. Once you have found the settings that suit a fabric, record them – you can then reproduce the same colour on the next run.
