Ribbon Printing Machine: Operating Notes
Source:ZS Machinery Time:2016-08-16 Click:351 Times
Ribbon and narrow fabric printing has its own set of habits – these machines run narrow webs at speed, and small errors show up quickly.
- Obey the safety markings. The guards and warning signs are there because the machine runs hot and the rollers pull.
- Keep tension even across the width. Narrow webs distort easily. Uneven tension at the two ends shows as a wavy or stretched print.
- Set the temperature for the material. Thin webbing reaches temperature quickly. Running too hot will glaze or stiffen it.
- Use the right width setting. If the web is not supported across its full width, the edges will not transfer properly.
- Watch the take-up. On continuous runs, check the rewind tension so the printed ribbon does not stretch after transfer.
For lanyards, webbing, elastic tape and shoelaces, this is a continuous process – once the settings are right, it runs without intervention.
