The textile printing equipment market has shifted decisively in three directions over the last decade.
1. From long runs to short runs. Fashion has moved to smaller, faster collections. A screen printing line that needs a full day of set-up cannot serve a five-hundred-metre order, so digital and transfer printing have taken that work.
2. From wet to dry. Water use and effluent treatment are now a real cost. Sublimation transfer uses no water and produces no wash-off, which is why it has become the default for polyester textiles.
3. From one machine to a production line. Buyers increasingly want the printer, the transfer paper and the transfer machine specified together, so the settings match from day one.
The practical result for a buyer is that the machine is only half the decision. The specification of the whole line is what determines your cost per metre.
