China's Printing Industry: Moving to Diversification
Source:ZS Machinery Time:2016-08-16 Click:67 Times
China's textile printing industry has changed shape considerably, and the direction of travel is clear.
From labour-intensive to technology-led. Printing used to compete on labour cost. It now competes on equipment, colour management and turnaround. Factories that invested in digital and transfer printing are the ones taking the shorter, higher-value orders.
From long runs to many designs. Brands want more designs, in smaller quantities, delivered faster. That shift moves work away from screen printing and towards digital and transfer processes.
From volume to value. Rather than competing on price per metre for plain fabric, more factories now print technical textiles, performance wear and home textiles, where specification matters more than cost.
Environmental pressure. Water and discharge rules have tightened, which favours dry processes such as sublimation transfer.
For equipment buyers, the practical effect is that short-run capability and low water use are now commercial requirements rather than optional extras.
